Like a Bigfoot Podcast #300: Episode 300 with Paul Scheuring, Thomas Mullins and Phil Pinti!!

Episode 300!!!

This week I’m celebrating the milestone by hanging out with three amazing dudes I met as a direct result of starting this project. Thomas Mullins, Phil Pinti, Paul Scheuring and I met back in 2018 at the Desert RATS stage race and have taken on many adventures since then.

Truly meeting these three has been an absolute honor and I couldn’t find anything more fitting to end “Season One” then diving deep on concepts of adventure and purpose with them!

This episode is really a two parter:

Part one- all three of us discuss what led us to long endurance events in the wilderness and how we’ve grown through them.

Part two- Phil and I discuss where I’m going with the show and why I’m taking a three month break from new episodes (I will be putting out replays of some of my favorite ones throughout the summer though!!)

Hope you all enjoy and thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for three hundred wonderful episodes!!!

Like a Bigfoot Podcast #292: Will “Akuna” Robinson — Adventure, Healing, & Purpose on Trail, Triple Crown of Thru-Hikes

In this episode Will “Akuna” Robinson shares the story of discovering a deep sense of purpose and meaning while hiking the nation’s three longest trails: Pacific Crest, Appalachian, and Continental Divide.

Will is an Iraq War Veteran who returned home after being medically evacuated. After dealing with years of complacency and depression, he stumbled across the film “Wild” about Cheryl Strayed’s journey on the PCT. A few weeks later he was out on the trail with his pack open to anything the journey ahead could throw at him.

That journey changed his life. Since 2016 he has hiked the PCT, the Appalachian Trail and the Continental Divide trail- The Triple Crown.

In this episode we talk about how nature gives us space to process certain life events, what it felt like to leave his everyday life to embrace the trail, and the ways he has grown through his journey.

This episode is EXCELLENT and I am beyond excited to share Akuna’s story with you!

Like a Bigfoot Podcast #291: John Petersen 3 — Leadership is Fellowship, How Adventure Shapes Views on Leadership

In this episode we are reconnecting with adventurer, endurance athlete and leadership coach John Petersen!!

John was a member of the Impossible Row team who became the first group to row a boat from South America to Antarctica across the Drake Passage completely self supported.

In this episode we dive into John’s leadership philosophies, hear a beautifully written passage from his book/key note about the row, and generally explore how his ideas about leadership intertwines with his outlook on adventure.

This episode really got me excited about exploring my own Core Values and John suggested a really powerful activity that I completed with my leadership class. If you want a link to it or instructions to it just email me at likeabigfoot@gmail.com or send me a message on social media.

He also was kind enough to be a guest speaker for my middle schoolers and I am truly in awe of his ability to relate with students and communicate some really complicated ideas in terms that are easy to understand.

This one is AWESOME!!! I truly hope you all enjoy!
